Problems with Firefox and upgrading components

We have recently discovered a problem which we have identified as being associated with the Mozilla Firefox browser (version 43.0.2, which is the current release version) when upgrading/installing Joomla components in the back end of the site. We have seen the problem with several sites so it is not related to a specific site, or hosting system.

The problem which does not occur with the Google Chrome, Opera, or Microsoft Edge browsers, shows itself as a 'Connect reset' whilst upgrading or installing some Joomla components.

We have experimented using different time-out values and even disabling time-outs completely, and using the Firefox 'Safe mode' which disables all browser add-ons yet the problem still occurs, and no further error information is visible in any logs or other locations which we have investigated. We have reported the problem to Mozilla.

Since other browsers work without any problems we have concluded that it is specific to the Firefox browser. It only seems to impact the update/install and using the browser just to view sites does not show any problems.

We post this in case any of our users experience the same problem updating/installing Joomla components.
