IP Mapping 1.2.3 released

location-48IP Mapping release 1.2.3 available.

The Joomla component came from a requirement to display IP addresses of site visitors upon Google maps.

This minor update fixes a problem with a change implemented in the previous update regarding updating multiple records. We have also taken the opportunity to restructure the handling of web crawlers (also known as robots). A new table has been introduced to enable site administrators to define their own robots entries, used in the front end visitor agent module.

A new logging debug option is present to be used in tracking down some of those difficult problems, but its usage is recommended only to those requested by support or for the adventurous.

A new check for a specific PHP setting 'allow_url_fopen' is introduced for those sites that do not, for possible security reasons, permit its usage, and the connection to IPInfoDB will use a Curl mechanism instead.  This specific problem would result in the geolocation data not being populated.

Some new options on the mapper module now permit the complete control of the displayed fields in the 'table' display.  This is particularly useful for those sites that place the mapper module in a side bar and might consider the use of scrollbars a little intrusive. It is also possible to specify the 'referrer' field as a link instead of just a text field.

The documentation has been updated for this release.

The release is available in the usual download location on our site.
