As we mentioned in the topic we will at some time take a look at this if there is requirement at some time in the future. Its been six months since the original enquiry and yours is now the second request.

We will have a look at whether Acyba now have a suitable API which could easility be integrated and consider the situation then.

Have considered the development of a suitable interface and what changes we ourselves would need to make to enable integration with a product such as AcySMS. Have sent an email to Acyba and wil await their response before proceeding any further on this subject.

Have obtained a copy of AcySMS and started evaluating how difficult it would be to implement.
There are a few considerations, not least the need to store the phone number of each person who will receive the SMS notifications.
Also a decision has to be made as to whether we want 'canned replies' or 'individual replies' based on the issue details. The former is not something we currently implement.
The big decision for a site would be that there is a real 'cost' associated with the sending (and possible receipt?) of SMS messages. Not just the cost of the AcySMS component but with each individual message sent.
This is likely to be a 1.6.6 feature (January 2015?) if we proceed with the implementation.

We have a working interface to AcySMS which will be available in the next Issue Tracker release 1.6.5. At the current time this will be a 'developing' interface which is expected to be enhanced with later releases. An example would be that the users' phone numbers would have to be manually entered by an administrator and there is likely to be limited validation on the entered phone number. There are also a limited size in the SMS despatched (70 chars) which means that there are three new message types and care has to be exercised to ensure that the generated message does not exceed this length.

Release 1.6.5 has introduced the ability to connect to AcySMS and sent SMS messages. In this release this is still considered to require further improvement but it does work correctly but requires the administrator to configure the SMS recipient users correctly.
Later versions will enhance the current integration to make better use of some of the other features that AcySMS provide and implement additional checking on SMS phone numbers etc.
