Cannot currently do this, so would require a change in the code.

Thinking very quickly on the possible solution.

Can easily enough add add the link to the filename, but need to think about any possible security concerns here as well.

For example if this is a 'private' issue do we want to allow downloads. I suspect not.
Do we want guest users to be able to download? Again suspect not.
Issue admin and staff, probably yes.

Could add an option to enable the adding of the link, but this would tend to be 'over riding' so that it would apply to all attachments. Might need to add some additional flags to the attachment to control who can download it as a better solution.

I do not want to rush into this change without some more though. Your ideas are welcome.

Hmmm, I'm just thinking about this - Would it be possible to let users choose while raising an issue? I mean, it would be great if there could be an option, who can download attachments. Like user - the author of a ticket would decide who can download his attachments - everyone/registered/staff&admin only.

Have decided to implement the following:

By default no issue attachment download is possible.

a) If this is a 'private' issue:
  1. Issue Admin and Staff can download the attachmnet.
  2. The raiser/creator of the issue cabn download attachments.

b) If this is a public issue:
  1. As above for Issue Admin, Staff and Issue Creator - they can download an attachment.
  2. If the viewer is logged in (i.e. Registered) and the component option to permit attachment downloads is enabled, then they can download an attachment.

So no guest download of attachments is supported (or intended).

Where an attachment download is possible it will be available in the issue display and in the issue form, which is visible only to the issue admin/staff/creator. The download will be indicated by a hyperlink on the filename (and probably a small magnifying glass as currently used in the issue list display).

Intended as a 1.6.5 feature.

Regards
Geoff

We are aiming for a release in the middle of the month (November), but this will depend upon the results of testing on recent changes.
