Kbase 1.1.0 released.

l com kbase
We are pleased to announce the availability of Kbase release 1.1.0 for Joomla 3.4

Kbase is a 'knowledge base' component used to present support information for our developed components in a user friendly manner upon our web site.  This update corrects a few very minor language problems and adds a new Glossary (Acronyms)) feature.

Updated documentation is available both as web pages and as a downloadable PDF file.

The update is available in the download area.

Withdrawal of Support for Joomla 2.5

With the removal of official support for Joomla 2.5 by the Joomla Project, we regret we are no longer able to provide general support for our Joomla components on this version.  Instead our support will concentrate upon the latest Joomla 3.x versions, currently 3.4.

Should you experience with our extensions upon Joomla 2.5 we will try to help and advice and possibly investigate but no new features or enhancements will be developed.

We recommend our customers migrate to the latest officially supported Joomla version as soon as it is possible.

Joomla Audit 1.1.0 released.

auditWe are pleased to announce the availability of Macrotone Joomla Audit release 1.1.0 for Joomla 3.4

This minor release corrects a problem discovered in the earlier release 1.0.2 on some tables. It also introduces a few new features, the most notable of which are the ability to 'purge' out all change history records with a single click, and also the ability to download the change records as a CSV or zipped file, for later post processing if required.

This version ONLY runs on Joomla 3.4 and above.

See the changelog for details of all of the changes.

The update is available in the download area.

We have also repacked the older 1.0.2 release with the updated helper file and released it as version 1.0.3 for Joomla versions 2.5 and Joomla 3.3 and earlier. This is unsupported but fixes a known problem with the 1.0.2 release.

IP Mapping 1.3.2 released

location-48IP Mapping release 1.3.2 available.

The Joomla component came from a requirement to display IP addresses of site visitors upon Google maps.
This release required a Joomla version 3.3 or above to function. Earlier versions are not supported. The release adds an option to use HTML5 geo-location determination to store the visitors location data. The browser itself, if it supports HTML5 geo-location controls the whether the user permits or declines to share their location data. If the user declines then the normal IP location determination mechanism is used.

This minor update corrects a few minor problems with the earlier 1.3.1 release.  Tested upon Joomla 3.4.3.

See the changelog for details.

The release is available in the usual download location on our site.

Rialto a new classified ads component for Joomla

rialtoWe are pleased to announce a Classified Ads component for Joomla named Rialto.

This component runs on Joomla 3.4 (and above) only.  Wikipedia defines Classified advertising as a form of advertising which is particularly common in newspapers, online and other periodicals, which may be sold or distributed free of charge. Advertisements in a newspaper are typically short, as they are charged for by the line, and one newspaper column wide. An advertisement as seen in a newspaper, magazine, or the like is generally dealing with offers or requests for jobs, houses, apartments, used cars, and the like. The Joomla component permits a site to accept such advertisements from its registered members and acts as a conduit between purchaser and seller.

The name is derived from a historic market district of Venice, Italy, named the Rialto, located close to the Grand Canal and to the 16th-century Rialto Bridge. It became the business centre of medieval and renaissance Venice. Since that time the word has come to have a few other meanings such as 'agora', 'forum', 'marketplace', 'shopping place' etc.

Web Site Revamp

We are pleased to announce the revamp of our web site.

We have retaining all of our previous content which is now presented in a template designed by Joostrap making use of Bootstrap v3.

This redesign is intended to reflect some of the newer emerging technologies and also increased performance and a more streamlined design. It is fully responsive and mobile ready, using HTML5 as standard.

This is the first of a number of changes we will be making on the site which will be made over the next month or so. Our previous template has served us well for a while but all things have their time and it was time to move with the times.

Update 25/06/2014: Have also upgraded the version of Joomla to the latest release. Hopefully everything will remain stable.

This minor update adds a new option to specify the height of the image over the acceptance button, changes the image specifications to be relative and not absolute and tidies up the plugin credits.

The plugin has been used on our site since the introduction of the legal requirement to comply with the EU Cookie Directive for web sites.  This plugin complies with the regulation by notifying the user of the Cookie policy.

A new Audit tool for Joomla

auditAbout a week ago we released a new component for Joomla named JAudit.

Running upon Joomla 2.5 and Joomla 3.x this is a comprehensive auditing component that makes use of the underlying database to log changes made to the Joomla tables. It does not require any changes to Joomla core code and should work without impacting any Joomla functionality. The component requires that the system has been granted the appropriate database privilege to create database triggers.

We have long believed that if you are using a fully featured database upon your Joomla site it seems ‘silly’ to not make use of the features that the database provides.  Databases these days are very feature rich and it is only necessary to look at the possibilities of these features to realise just how much one is missing out upon. One analogy that brings this home, might be ‘Would you pay for a Ferrari and only drive it around in first gear?’
